Often, new students joining our course have come to us on the personal recommendation of past students.
As a UNIGIS student you join an extensive, international community of professionals working in GIS in over 30 countries. Current and past students come from a wide range of organisations, including central and local government, utilities, consultancy, business, GIS vendors, research and education. Success on the course has been achieved by professionals from fields such as planning, surveying, IT, project management, oil exploration, telecommunications, marketing, R&D, as well as by those starting their careers. Many students have gained promotion, career enhancements and new positions whilst on the course, and on completion.

Our students can be found applying their knowledge and training as technicians, researchers, lecturers, surveyors, marketers, managers and in many other positions. Students have found the course to open new horizons not only in the boundaries of their current employment, but also beyond.

What our students are saying about us

   Amsterdam

To the further benefit of the UNIGIS programme, some of our students and alumni have been known to offer their assistance and extensive professional experience for the purpose of demonstrating practical application of GIS at UNIGIS events outside of the programme described in the course syllabus. The international community of students is supported by an annual professional updating conference, and Web-based discussion lists offer the opportunity to communicate with the world-wide community of UNIGIS staff and students.

Of our current students 85% live in the Netherlands and 15% come from other countries, such as Bolivia, Indonesia, South Africa etc. In the recent past we have had students from Iceland, Syria, Siberia and other far away countries that in terms of distance learning are just as close as the Netherlands.
