Maaike van Aalst

Maaike van Aalst started working as a PhD candidate within the NWO project ‘Adaptation Pathways for socially inclusive development of urbanizing deltas’ under supervision of Henri de Groot and Eric Koomen. Her research focuses on developing a framework for ‘social inclusiveness’ in relation to water management (strategies), making use of the adaptation pathways approach, and with a specific focus on the Viet Nam Mekong delta. She also remains affiliated with Deltares, where she was involved in several Delta Plan projects and other related studies. She plans to introduce the experiences from real-life cases at Deltares in her PhD research.
