Water and spatial policy need to be better coordinated to prepare for upcoming climatic and societal changes. We are proud to have provided the land-use scenarios for this important policy advice presented by Deltares to the Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management. This study assesses the water challenges of four possible futures that differ in degree of urbanisation, economic growth, project climatic changes and required mitigation measures. Each scenario highlights different implications for water shortages, excess water and flooding. Our land-use scenario’s allowed assessing these impacts and helped indicate the large regional variation in challenges. The background report documenting the simulated land-use changes can be found here.
