Land use simulation for Water shortage study RIZA
The request for writing this report was issued by the Institute for Inland Water Management and Waste Water Treatment (RIZA) to the GIS group of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VUA) in September 2002. This research project was part of the research project “water shortage study”, that is carried out by RIZA itself in co-operation with amongst others the International Centre for Integrative Studies (ICIS) of the University of Maastricht.
For this project, the VUA simulated future land use. The VUA developed three scenario’s of the future and generated land claims and attractivity maps based on these scenario’s. As a reference point for hte scenario’s, the scenario’s developed by ISIS were taken. The land claims and attractivity maps are built into the Land Use Scanner. With this data, a range of simulations has been carried out.
The second task of the VUA is to report:
- the development of the scenario’s, land claims and attractivity maps;
- the process of including the land claims and attractivity maps in the Land Use Scanner;
- the results land use simulation, and
