SPINlab PhD candidate Chris Jacobs-Crisioni recently contributed some of his research data to a Dutch TV-show, ‘Onzichtbaar Nederland’ (‘The invisible Netherlands’). That show takes the viewer through physical and societal changes in the country with often spectacular GIS visualizations.cjc_reistijden

The data Chris shared show the decline of traveltimes throughout the country, as caused by the expansion of the railway network. The final result can be seen here: http://www.vpro.nl/onzichtbaar-nederland/kijk/afleveringen/2016/contact.html (in Dutch). ‘His’ fragment is from 16:07 to 16:36.

For more information on the assumptions behind the research data that Chris shared, see Chapters 4 and 5 in his dissertation, which he will defend at the VU on November 30: http://dare.ubvu.vu.nl/handle/1871/54795.
